On July 15, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will implement a new cargo messaging system to address invalid consignee names on shipments. This messaging will be sent to the entry filer via the ACE Cargo Release Status Notification message, and brokers and importers are expected to work with the shipper and bill of lading issuer to correct the issue for future shipments. Brokers and freight forwarders who self-file House Bills must also comply with cargo declaration regulations. Failure to do so may result in enforcement actions by CBP.
