USTR Extends Certain Section 301 China Product Exclusions

Updated: Aug 3

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has announced a significant update regarding the Section 301 investigation into China’s technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation practices. Originally, 429 product-specific exclusions, including 352 previously reinstated exclusions and 77 COVID-related exclusions, were set to expire on May 31, 2024 will be extended further until May 31, 2025.

This decision follows a thorough review process where public comments were considered, focusing on the availability of products from non-Chinese sources and efforts to shift sourcing. USTR's goal is to encourage the reduction of dependence on Chinese products and support sourcing from the United States or third countries.
