Navigating the New USDA Agricultural Marketing Service Organic Filing Requirements

Effective March 19, 2024, the USDA's Strengthening Organic Enforcement regulations require the use of electronic NOP Import Certificates for all organic agricultural products imported into the United States. This rule aims to protect organic integrity, improve traceability, and strengthen enforcement of organic regulations. Accredited certifying agents must issue the certificates, and both importers and exporters must be certified. The certificates can be issued for single or multiple shipments and must be submitted through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) entry filing system.
